Francois Engelbrecht
Francois was born in 1976 in Oudtshoorn, South Africa, and has spent the majority of his life in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town. Upon completing his matriculation at Durbanville High School in 1993 at the age of 17, he pursued and completed an NQF N4 Electrical Engineering Diploma. His professional journey began when he joined his dad’s businesses, now recognized as the preeminent installers of prison security systems in South Africa and one of the foremost electrical contracting firms in the Western Cape.
Throughout his time at his dad’s companies, Francois contributed significantly, working directly on-site before advancing to the position of head of the electrical tendering department. Ultimately, he was entrusted with overseeing his own division within the organization, where he achieved remarkable success.
Driven by a great entrepreneurial spirit, Francois ventured to establish his own business in 2004. Though he briefly returned to assist in his dad’s business, he later resumed his own entrepreneurial pursuits with unwavering determination.
Francois is characterized by a resolute “never give up” attitude, and while the challenges of being a white contractor may present themselves, his sharp innovative acumen and creative problem-solving abilities have allowed him to navigate these obstacles with finesse and maintain his business’s ongoing success.
As an exceptional athlete from a young age, Francois demonstrated remarkable prowess in sports. As a fearless youth, he cultivated a passion for cycling, earning Provincial Colours in BMX track racing from 1982 to 1984. He also triumphed in numerous National Events across South Africa, showcasing his exceptional talent and competitive spirit.
In addition to his cycling achievements, Francois displayed an innate aptitude for swimming, despite not particularly enjoying the sport. His natural ability led him to become the fastest swimmer in his secondary-school from the age of 14, breaking several records in the process. He was also awarded Regional Provincial Colours in swimming from 1989 to 1993.
Today, Francois finds great joy in motorcycle riding, which he pursues nearly every weekend when the weather permits. He and his beloved family of four also frequently visit Clanwilliam Dam during holidays, where they indulge in the thrill of water-skiing.
As a devout Evangelical Protestant Christian, Francois’s unwavering faith in his relationship with the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit stands as the cornerstone of his existence, guiding him through both personal and professional realms.
Looking to the future, Francois aspires to expand his flourishing businesses, while cherishing a harmonious life with his wife and witnessing his children’s growth into prosperous, successful individuals.
